Irish Band Photos has been set up to cater to the needs of both up-and-coming young Irish bands and more established acts alike. Originally established by Tady Walsh, a Dublin based web developer and photographer, as a forum to show his photographs after shooting a number of bands and acts across Dublin (such as Bell X1, Gavin Glass and Hard Working Class Heroes 2004/2005), the website began to take on a new meaning as a method of allowing these acts to both see their photos online and also give them access to professional photographic services at an affordable price.
Tady Walsh has been living and working in Dublin for the past five years. He is originally from Limerick, where his initial contact with many Irish bands came from his close friends, working in the music industry. Walsh says "I had all these friends in bands and all these acts that I admired and loved, that I had photographed over the past few years and I wanted to give the photos back, not just to the acts in the photos, but to their fans too. I thought, 'Hang on here; you design websites, do a damn website!' So I did and this is the result. The premise of the site is to give everyone an even platform. It doesn't matter to me if you're U2 or a band fresh out of college, either way you'll get the same billing on irish band photos. There's no question though, I do want to give greater exposure to newer acts than those established acts that can look after themselves. That's not to say I won't go along and see them!!!"
